Good questions, straight answers
Your Questions, Answered
Are you truly open 24 hours?
Genuinely, yes, not a phrase left on the website by accident. Whoever's on shift takes the call whether it's 3am or 3pm, and getting to a job that same day is normal for us, not something we advertise and struggle to deliver.
What counts as a drain emergency?
Sewage backing up into the house, a toilet that won't stop overflowing, or water pooling somewhere it's never pooled before. Any of those jumps to the front of the queue the moment you call.
How do I book?
Ring (02) 9134 9075 and describe the problem. We'll match it against a few common causes, then pencil in a slot, frequently for the same day you rang.
Do you work through weekends and public holidays?
Yes. Blockages don't wait for a weekday, so the same crew and the same booking process cover weekends and public holidays without a surcharge conversation.
What’s covered by "$65 off your first service"?
If we haven't worked at your place before, $65 comes straight off whatever the fixed quote comes to on that first visit. Nothing extra to sign up for, it's applied automatically.
Is there a call-out fee?
Nothing to see the van pull up, nothing for the look and the diagnosis. Whatever you end up paying goes toward the actual repair.
How do I pay?
Standard payment methods are all accepted on the day, and because the price is agreed upfront, there's nothing left to work out once the job's finished.
What does "best price guaranteed" actually mean?
You get a fair number the first time, not an inflated one designed to leave room for haggling. It's the figure we work to, given to you before anything starts, and it doesn't move once agreed.
How local are you, actually?
There's a van on the peninsula most weeks, not once in a blue moon. Between Balmain jobs and the surrounding Inner West streets, it's a patch we're back in constantly.
Why do tree roots block so many Balmain drains?
Big old trees and mature gardens line most of the peninsula's streets, and their roots go looking for water wherever they can find it. Balmain's clay and earthenware drains have had a century-plus to crack, so those roots don't have to look far to get in.
Is a blocked sewer my responsibility or Sydney Water’s?
The short version: your responsibility runs from the house out to the point where your pipework meets the main, and Sydney Water covers everything past that. It isn't always obvious from the surface where that line falls, so we'll pin it down for you on site.
Which suburbs do you service?
Balmain plus [Rozelle](/blocked-drains-rozelle/), [Lilyfield](/blocked-drains-lilyfield/), [Leichhardt](/blocked-drains-leichhardt/), [Annandale](/blocked-drains-annandale/) and [Haberfield](/blocked-drains-haberfield/) round out the patch we work day to day.
Is the work guaranteed?
It is. Every job carries the quality workmanship guarantee, and before the van leaves we'll spell out plainly what that covers rather than leaving it buried somewhere in a document you never read.
How experienced are you with drains?
15+ years' experience across Sydney's drains, with a fair chunk of that spent under the sort of clay and earthenware pipework Balmain's older houses still carry.
Can I clear the blocked drain myself?
For one blocked fixture, grab the plunger before anything else, that much is fine. Once you're reaching for chemicals or a hired eel, the risk to older pipework goes up, and if the same spot keeps blocking, that's a sign for a licensed plumber, not another attempt with a bottle from the hardware shop.
What’s covered under the lifetime labour warranty?
It covers our end of the job, the labour, for as long as it takes for that fix to fail, which ideally never happens. If it does, a return visit costs you nothing.
